About the Author
Giovanni Maciocia is one of the most highly-regarded and respected authors and lecturers in the West. He is Visiting Associate Professor at the Nanjing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and has many years of experience in teaching and practice. Giovanni trained initially in the UK and then in China, learned Chinese to be able to study from original Chinese texts, and was one of the first practitioners and authors to introduce Chinese medicine in a clear and accessible way to a Western student audience.

Clearly written

I am so glad I finally got brave enough to purchase this extraordinary book.
I am not a practitioner or student of Chinese medicine, only a very curious
layperson wanting to learn more about this wonderful system of medicine. The
author's writing is so clear and easy to understand. I highly recommend this
book because it is so is very empowering and inspiring.

If youre stuck getting this book for a class, its a rough read. Maciocia vacillates between vomitting words on the page to gastrohemorragic bar graphs and tables that are ludicrous to behold.

It is the book I really enjoyed and learned a lot. Obviously, Giovanni is the best acupuncturist who scientifically analyzed the mechanism and applications. After reading his book, I would like to meet with him to expose his knowledge more.
