Of all the ancient practices that have been revived by the growth of alternative healing, reflexology is one of the most popular�and is especially well-suited to self-treatment, the treatment of a partner, or the treatment of children.�The Reflexology Atlas is a fully illustrated and comprehensive�reference guide, the first�to provide an overview of, and instructions for, each�the many forms of reflexology--foot reflexology, hand reflexology, ear reflexology, head reflexology, and the total massage known as shiatsu.

In the reflexology system it is possible to stimulate a distant organ or body part by massaging a corresponding "reflex zone" on the hand, foot, ear, face, or scalp. By examining the location of the reflex zones, one can visualize a projection of the entire human body superimposed over each of these massage locations. On the foot, for example, the big toe represents the head; the area at the base of the toes corresponds to the neck and shoulder girdle; the digestive organs can be massaged in the middle of the foot; the curves of ball, arch, and heel on the side of the foot mirror the curves of the spine; and the pelvic organs find correspondence just below the anklebone. Because the placement of the reflex zones makes intuitive sense, reflexology is easy to learn and can be applied anywhere.

The best reflexology textbook ever

What a fabulous find! The textbook is extremely well written, the format is much bigger then regular book size; pictures are colorful and tables are very easy to use. I am very interested in reflexology, have been studying it for a while and had reflexology sessions with a professional for years. I have never seen a reflexology textbook which would be better then this one. And the price is quite amazing. Get this book, you will not regret it. It also can make a great gift.

Great Techniques!

This is a great book filled with pictures of the techniques you can use for massage. It's very helpful. The only thing is that it can be difficult for some people to understand (like my husband). I do wish they had more techniques for the legs. It seemed to lack a bit in that area. I tried the techniques out on my husband and he loved the massage. Definitely great if you are just starting out or don't plan on being a professional at it.

Large full colored pictures show good detail, though the written explanations could go more in depth. I feel this has a very Western view of Reflexology, which makes it easy to understand--however, I think this may do a disservice to the roots of Reflexology.

A former newspaper correspondent and managing editor for a number of magazines in Singapore, David Miller has written several commercial books over the years. His first novel Year of the Tiger was published in August 2012. Advent was his second novel published in June 2013. Chillingly realistic and so well written.

I found this to be a fascinating read that was extremely suspenseful. David Miller has certainly done his research, as it would take a great deal of research and work to make the story so seamless. The book showed how the actions of a single person can have far reaching results better than any book I can think of, other than perhaps the Bible.

The plot was masterful. It was very realistic. And the characters were all well rounded believable people. They helped me understand better than ever before the motivations behind all the different groups involved.

This is not a book for children or young people. It is much too frightening and deals with very adult issues.

If you enjoy books by Tom Clancy, this is a book you should read. I think you will be drawn in the way I was, and carried through the story as fast as you can read. I can't wait to read the third book. I am very curious how David Miller will resolve the story. Thank you for a riveting read! And please keep writing, David, we're all waiting.

I just finished reading Advent by David Miller.� I thoroughly enjoyed this book and heartily endorse anyone to read it.�

Keep your mind open because this deals with tough subject matter. Mr Miller weaves a tale that is plausible within the societies in our current world. I am disturbed by the fact that it can be. We all need to stay aware of how our leaders and those around them can and do affect the course of events every day of our lives.

It is set in many locales and shows how different people and/or cultures perceive things. That knowledge is useful, to my mind. No one has a lock on all wisdom and is always right or wrong.

The book is a page turner and thoroughly engaging. I highly recommend this book.

Such charming protagonists.

The frustrating thing about this writer is she tends to give us more short stories than long. I just wish Crown Jewel is novel length. Yet the writer managed to give us two very charming and likable protagonists in Lazzaro and Celeste in a fairy tale like setting which is believable despite the length. The plot is tightly paced and we get to know Celeste and Lazzaro very well, their different background interesting. The mystery element is a nice bonus to the plot. Maybe the ultimate villain's motivation could be better fleshed out but this is the price to pay for the length. I certainly like the Cinderella flavor in the story even if I feel that Lazzaro feelings towards Celeste is too fast, which is at odds with Lazzaro's monkish personality. But this is afterall a fairy tale and our courtesan certainly deserves a permanent home and love with a prince.

About the Author
Adam Szyszka is a Professor of finance and economics at the Warsaw School of Economics and at the Poznan University of Economics, Poland. Professor Szyszka was the Fulbright Doctoral Scholar and later the Kosciuszko Foundation Postdoctoral Fellow at the Columbia University in New York. He participated in seminars and lectured at a number of internationally known institutions of higher education including Harvard Business School, Freie Universitaet in Berlin, Tsinghua University in Beijing, and the University of Adelaide in Australia. He has also served as a consultant to PricewaterhouseCoopers, an investment banker in Bank Millennium, and a partner in AT INVEST, which he co-founded.

Sullivan (Imaginary Animals, 1996, etc.) strips some classics of all their energy, rendering the tellings bloodless and often boring. The pages are filled with familiar and lesser-known characters: Davy Crockett, Johnny Appleseed, Molly Pitcher, a nd Calamity Jane share the stage with the River God's Wife, Pirates in Petticoats, Elfrego Baca, and Compair Bouki. Most of these tales are compressed into two pages, so there is no room for any build-up, no sense of rhythm or climaxit's all flat. The ver sions are often arbitrary in feel: John Henry's tale is retold by a grandfather to his first-grade grandson, and loses all the power that Julius Lester instilled in his John Henry (1994), while the protagonist of ``Paul Bunyan and His Blue Ox `Babe' '' is Winifred Winslow, who owns a lumber camp (Paul and Babe have walk-on roles). Sullivan does cast a wide net, with American tales from numerous cultures: rural and urban, native, European, and Asian. While children will be able to look up names or tales in Sullivan's general groupings, such as ``Characters Larger than Life'' and the sections on outlaws, heroes, colorful characters, and incredible animals, there is no bibliography. Stick with more vibrant collections, such as Neil Philip's American Fairy Ta les (1996), Mary Pope Osborne's American Tall Tales (1991) or Robert D. San Souci's Cut from the Same Cloth (1993). This was originally meant to be an anthology of tales told by other authors, but I found that many of the earlier versions were worn out, unimaginative, or lacking in realistic detail; and several were actually offensive, bordering on racist in their language.� So with the encouragement of my publisher, Paul Gottlieb, I set about writing a series of short stories in a style which cut through the old material with fresh perspectives, new characters, whatever it took to make the tales come alive again.� For example, to show how things looked from Casey's point of view in "Casey Jones and the Train Wreck,"� I found the names of railroad stations along the way from Memphis, TN to Canton, MI, and estimated how late he was running that night as his freight train flew past them:� "Sardis, Mississippi, 72 minutes behind schedule.� Grenada, 45 minutes.� Winona, 34 minutes.� Durant, 16 minutes."� He was catching up, almost on time, only to crash into the back of an empty train that shouldn't have been parked where it was.
