Just for George Box's Fans

If you have read at least two books of George Box, you will like this book.
First, I believe that the most interesting part of the book is when he describes how he met all his friends (and also famous statisticians), and the good relation that he had with all of them. In addition, it's very exciting to read about the adventures that Dr Box had with Stu Hunter, Dr Cox, Dr Benkhen, Gwilym Jenkins, George Banard, among others; and how they started to work together.
On the other hand, this book contains personal anecdotes and adventures that lead you to know more about George Box's personal life. Moreover, you'll found that he liked to describe everything with as much detail as possible; as a great storyteller he was.
I always wanted to meet Dr. Box; after I read this book, I did.

Early life was most interesting, some helpful statistical insights for non-statisticians

I found his early life experiences very interesting, especially his inventiveness and creativity as a young person. The accounts of his work stimulated me to begin reading the 1978 edition of Statistics for Experimenters by GEP Box, WG Hunter, and JS Hunter. His accounts of real-life situations (industrial, experimental, or social) compellingly demonstrated the need for creative common sense, scientific collaboration, and the development of better mathematical modeling in both design and analysis. This book gave more detail on his personal life than I expected in an autobiography of a scientist -- though not always as candid as I would hope in an independent biography, there were a few refreshingly candid admissions. Box is a good story teller, but I don't know whether his anecdotes, poems, and songs are good literature. Overall, worth reading if you have any interest in science, mathematical modeling, experimental/industrial design, or anecdotes.

A very worthwhile read

If you are interested in the life of a great scientist (not just a mere statistician), this is a must read. George Box was among the great thinkers of his time, and knew, and worked with, many others of his caliber (a large cast of such characters appears in the book).
Professor Box wrote this book in his nineties, and in a state of health that was at times so fragile that he was admitted to hospice on numerous occasions (only to escape again!). While he was writing the memoir, he also co-authored two award-winning articles that appeared in the journal, Quality Engineering. Not bad.
