I bought this book as a third year University student of Spanish as a foreign language when I had begun teaching the language to 10-12 year olds. The list of writers includes well known names like the Argentinian Marco Denevi and the writer who needs no introduction Marquez. My personal favourite for young readers is Alvaro Menen Desleal's Primer Encuentro , about an alien visit. It is a perfect example of how much suspense can be built into a (very) short story. I strongly recommend this book for all intermediate level learners and as an introduction to Hispanic literature for anyone.
